ecdp is a pioneering User-Led Organisation that has built an enviable reputation for supporting disabled people at a local, regional and national level. Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Mike Adams OBE, ecdp has successfully focussed on both empowering individual disabled people to transform their lives and on influencing the policies that impact on the wider disabled community.
Everything we do is underpinned by the social model of disability. We do not accept discrimination in our work on grounds of disability, race, age, sexual orientation, gender or religion and will challenge it if it occurs, at an individual or organisational level. We aim to positively promote equality on these grounds.
Achievements
Since we were founded in 1995, we have had many notable achievements, including :
- Working with a number of local authorities to support disabled individuals to manage a direct payment including providing payroll services and holding funds.
- Collecting the experience of disabled people so their voice influences local and national policy.
- Delivering employment support initiatives enhancing the skills and experience of unemployed disabled people.
The tireless work of the ecdp team has been acknowledged locally and nationally and was recognised by award of an OBE to our long standing Chief Executive Officer, Mike Adams in the Queen’s New Year’s honours list in 2012.
