How can you get involved with ECDP?

ECDP Membership

We invite everyone to become a member of ECDP; both disabled and non-disabled people, and local and national organisations. As a member of ECDP you will receive our quarterly newsletter ‘EFFECT’, and be invited to our Annual General Meeting. Affiliated organisations are also entitled to a discounted rate when hiring our fully accessible conferencing facilities.

How do I/we join ECDP?

We are currently re-launching our membership scheme and full details will be available soon. In the interim please contact us directly for more information on becoming a member of ECDP.

ECDP Local Area Representatives

For ECDP to truly be the voice of disabled people in Essex, we need to ensure we “reach out” effectively to all parts of the county. To achieve this, we are looking for enthusiastic, committed and motivated volunteers to represent the views of disabled people and ECDP at a local level across Essex.

As a local area representative, you will have the opportunity to voice the views and concerns of disabled people in your community, take up issues with relevant bodies/organisations, and work as part of our team to make changes that improve the every day lives of disabled people across the county. You will also be able to develop specialist knowledge in key areas such as housing, transport and employment, and use this expertise to support disabled people throughout Essex.

As well as influencing issues in your local community, ECDP will provide you with fantastic developmental opportunities through training and peer support.

To be a Local Area Representative you must be a disabled person who lives and / or works in Essex. You will also need to be able to attend bi-monthly meetings and give up to an average of eight hours a month to the role. ECDP will cover all travel and related costs.

To find out more, please contact Camille Shah, Development Officer.

EFFECT

Our quarterly newsletter ‘EFFECT’- Essex Fighting for Fairness and Equality by Campaigning Together, is sent to all our members as well as local politicians and people in positions to influence the lives of disabled people in Essex.

EFFECT helps keep people informed of any topical news, both local and national within the Disability Movement, current debates and news of current developments here at ECDP.
