Update on the Walk Colchester BOMA project

Last month, we shared some information about a local project, Walk Colchester, looking to win £6000 from the NatWest Community Fund, which makes awards to organisations all over the country based on the votes of support from local people. Walk Colchester bid to fund an all terain chair, to enable disabled and older people to access the Essex countryside.
We have now recieved this update from Walk Colchester:
We are delighted to be able to announce that thanks to your votes and support Walk Colchester have won a NatWest Community Force award of £6,275 towards purchase of a Boma all-terrain chair enabling disabled and older walkers to enjoy access to our beautiful local countryside on an equal basis with other walkers and cyclists.
For more information about progress or getting involved with the BOMA project, please see the Walk Colchester website: The BOMA project.

hello!
Thank you ecdp for posting this.. we're so excited to have won this award and very grateful for your votes in support. Now we're looking actively at all the other bits that need to be in place to take the project forward.
What we really want more than anything is your expressions of interest in the project. So if you have any kind of mobility restriction (whether or not you use a chair), if you enjoy getting out into the countryside or would like to more, PLEASE do let us know. We would like to get a community of interested people in touch via email so that we can keep you posted on our progress and answer your questions on making use of the Boma yourself
Just to say again that the motivation behind the bid has always been about simply enabling as many people as possible to access the countryside on a more equal basis. It's not a sport as such, although it looks and feels sporty. It is really comfortable and stable too, and just as great for pottering along country lanes as for anything more energetic!
If you're interested at all, just drop us a line at: walkcolchester@rocketmail.com and let's chat!
