Individual Budgets Project
Back to Direct Payment Support Services
Essex Coalition of Disabled People has been selected to assist with the pilot of Individual Budgets in Essex.
Essex is one of 13 National Individual Budget Pilot sites. The Individual Budget Programme is led by the Department of Health, and includes the Department for Work and Pensions and the Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister)
How will Individual Budgets work?
By giving you an early idea about how much money there is for your support, and giving you a real chance to design that support, you will get support that works better for you, with the same money.
Essex will be working with adults aged 18 – 65 who have a Physical Impairment or Learning Disability and their Carers’. We will be testing whether Individual Budgets can give people better lives by offering people the chance to decide how their Individual Budget is used from April 1st 2006 for 18 months.
For the pilot we will be testing out Individual Budgets with less than 100 people, which is a very small number. The project is being evaluated independently by researchers.
