VIP visit to ecdp
ecdp was recently visited by Sophie Christensen, OBE, the British Equestrian athlete who won three gold medals at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
Sophie is working as the newly appointed Disabled People’s User-Led Organisation (DPULO) Young Ambassadors lead. She was accompanied by Rachael Wallach who is the DPULO National Lead for the Strengthening DPULO Programme which was launched by the Office for Disability Issues in 2011.
This programme has been set up to provide a range of practical and financial support to support strong and sustainable DPULOs. The aim is to act as a voice for disabled people at a local level, and support more independent living for those who face the greatest barriers and cannot work.
Sophie’s visit to ecdp was not only a fantastic day, but an opportunity to learn about our respective organisations and programmes. Find out more about ecdp’s lived experience programmes.
Thursday 07 July 2016 is THE BIG HEALTH DAY from 10am to 3pm.
Disability Essex provided advice, support and a place to socialise for disabled people, their families and carers since 1949 but has closed due to financial difficulties.
