Increasing Independence for Adults with Disabilities Consultation
In 2013, Essex County Council began a consultation across the region to inform their services. They have consulted with a range of audiences. This includes adults with learning disabilities or those with physical or sensory impairments, who should be able to lead ordinary lives with the same life expectations, opportunities and outcomes as other citizens. The council believes that the current arrangements for adults with disabilities are not enabling them to live as independently as they could, or to progress throughout their life in the same way that other people expect.
In response to this consultation, Mike Adams OBE, CEO of ecdp, has issued a response to Essex County Council.
