Fancy a break? Dementia Adventure holidays in September and beyond…
There are three holidays and other activities which are on offer in the upcoming months. All are supported with staff and volunteers and designed to help you live well with dementia.
The first is an Isle of Wight residential break on the 15th September for people who have slightly more advanced dementia and who may enjoy gentler pursuits in mind. For example; stroking animals, Ventnor botanical gardens, Osborne House's beach and enjoying a great boat trip around the island. The cost is £720 per person and accommodation is in a comfortable B&B and cottages on a farm.
The second details a sailing trip on the Eve of St Mawes on the 4th October for 3 days, and is designed for people who have some experience of sailing. It's a cosy boat with room for two couples living with dementia. They have seen some amazing evidence of people's attention spans extending and visible signs of well-being when they get out on the water – the price is £499 pp including all food, equipment and the support of a member of the DA team.
Lastly, a trip to Southwold on the 29th September, costing £750 per couple, and is designed for people who can walk some distance. The schedule includes visiting Dunwich heath and RSPB Minsmere. Accommodation is in a large and beautiful holiday cottage and fresh homecooked meals will be prepared.
Alternatively, if you don't feel quite ready for a longer break but would like to try getting out more regularly with some support, please try one of the Park Walks which are running in various areas and are continuing into September.
Thursday 07 July 2016 is THE BIG HEALTH DAY from 10am to 3pm.
