Chelmsford Ideas Festival 2014

The Chelmsford Ideas Festival is bigger this year, with something for everyone. There are some great new events, prestigious speakers and more venues. The focus this year is ‘Create’ which is explored through a multitude of activities for all ages.

The Ideas Festival celebrates the creativity of Chelmsford’s people, past and present, and encourages you to join in, actively creating a thriving future. Whether it is; impact or objects, new relationships, social change or knowledge, you are encouraged to become active participants in the City.

Amongst the highlights, they are delighted to host a talk by Professor Marconi, the grandson of Chelmsford’s genius innovator. This will be complemented by an account of the extraordinary space technology that e2v produces today.

Additionally, Chelmsford’s legacy as the birthplace of broadcasting will be brought bang up-to-date with an event involving James Whale and BBC Essex as well as Heart and Chelmsford Community Radio. Members of ‘Churches Together’ have created a delightful music evening, while the Academy of Urbanism celebrates ‘Happynomics’ the role of creativity and urban design in making places vibrant.

The weekend of the 25th and 26th of October not only brings the Purely Essex producers market to the High Street again, but also a River Celebration and a two day Wellbeing event at the Marconi Social Centre.
