CSV Inspiring Young Disabled People
Do you know a young disabled person who would like to take up a work shadow opportunity?
CSV are launching a project to co-ordinate 100 work shadow opportunities for young people with disabilities across the UK. The aim of the project is to raise the confidence and career aspirations of young disabled people, who may miss out on the work shadow and work experience opportunities enjoyed by their non-disabled peers. Work shadowing and work experience opportunities have been demonstrated to have a huge impact on the likelihood of a young person getting into work.
Supported by the Office for Disability Issues and the Disability Action Alliance, the project will offer work shadow opportunities on 3 dates over the next 9 months. The first date is scheduled for the 3rd December 2014, to co-incide with the International Day of People with Disability, with a number of high profile figures across the country being shadowed. The second and third dates will be in March and June 2015.
CSV would like to hear from anyone who would be interested in taking part. CSV are currently seeking a wide range of placements, and hope to be able to pair up young people with an experience which appeals to their aspirations and interests.
If volunteer support is required to assist the young person during the day, CSV will try to provide such support.
