ecdp Works begins fifth cycle

ecdp Works, an award-winning work experience programme, begins fifth cycle to support people with Learning Disabilities into the workplace

Less than 1 in 5 people with a learning disability work, but at least 65% of people with a learning disability want to work*.

We believe that with the right support, people with Learning Disabilities can reach their employment aspirations. For employers, it is an opportunity to tap into a wider talent pool.

Our fifth cycle of ecdp Works began on Monday 10 November 2014. This cycle is completely unique, as all of the participants have a self declared Learning Disability. This programme is sponsored by PCG, our strategic partner, and Essex County Council.

The participants will undertake work experience placements at a range of local businesses, including Meadows Shopmobility, Patisserie Coustance, YMCA Chelmsford, M&S Outlet, the Oasis Café, Accuro, Lighthouse Furniture Project and Gulf Service Station. All of these businesses are demonstrating a commitment to employing disabled people, and becoming Disability Confident.

ecdp Works involves a combination of training, a work experience placement and ongoing support. With a record of over 50% of participants finding fixed term or full time employment as a result of the programme, we are confident our latest ecdp Works participants will be successful.
