Open Data

Open Data means publishing the information that organisations hold on topics like management information, financial planning and performance-related decisions, and letting whoever is interested take a look.

Over the last 12 months in particular, Open Data has become a vital driver in public sector reform and making government at all levels more transparent. In the public sector, the debate on Open Data has moved beyond whether or not government should release data to questions of how to release government data. However, in the voluntary and community sector (VCS) there are very few examples of organisations sharing their data openly.

At ecdp we’ve done a number of things over the last 12 months to share our work and resources as widely as possible, as well as to make our organisation more transparent in terms of the things we are doing. This includes things this website and RSS feed, documents we’ve published on Scribd, videos we’ve shared on YouTube and social media like Twitter, Facebook and Flickr.

As well as delivering high quality public services and providing a representative voice for disabled and older people, we also want to be an example of how VCS organisations can contribute to the wider drivers of public sector reform. We see Open Data as one key area where we can usefully contribute.

  • Overview

    An overview of our Transparency and Open Data work at ecdp, including why we’re doing it, what the data is, suggestions of what you could do with the data, what the caveats are and what we’ll do next.

  • ecdp Performance Dashboard

    This captures performance information on a wide range of topics across all of the teams within ecdp. Topics include our social care support services, finance information, HR data and volunteering data. We will publish this information each month.

  • ecdp Management Board

    The agenda and minutes for our Management Board Meetings. We are an organisation run by and for disabled people and our Management Board – made up entirely of disabled people – meets approximately every 2 months.

  • ecdp annual reports

    Details of all our annual reports and returns to the Charity Commission.

We will regularly add to our store of Open Data over the coming months. In particular, we will publish details or our innovative support planning model (early 2011) and will publish all non-confidential papers associated with our Management Board (by Spring 2011).
