Today was the first day of the ecdp Works Course. As the masterminds behind the programme, Dennis Preston and Rachel Vipond opened with several introductions before the CEO of ECDP, Mike Adams, spoke about how beneficial the course could be. We were then asked to introduce ourselves to the person next to us, answering six questions about who we were. When we were done, we then introduced that person to the rest of the room. Rachel, Dennis, and the various course mentors around the room also took part in all the activities.

ecdp Works, our award-winning work experience programme, begins fifth cycle to support people with Learning Disabilities into the workplace

Less than 1 in 5 people with a learning disability work, but at least 65% of people with a learning disability want to work*.

It is a chance to really make a difference to your business.

Over the past few months, local Essex organisations have hosted ecdp Works participants. The impact has been astounding.

Companies have not only saved on recruitment costs, increased their productivity levels and raised awareness of disability within their work places, they have gained a deeper insight into the importance of being Disability Confident.
