What is Widening Horizons Young Peoples Forum?
The scheme aims:
- To create a voice for young people, the forum will meet regularly and develop tools to communicate with peers and public, as well as statutory organisations e.g through DVD's and Young Peoples Website
- To bring together young disabled people as a group, to fundraise and support new activities and encourage others to participate
- To raise aspirations by accessing new activities
- To help young people learn new skills, gain knowledge and be empowered to have more control over their lives
- To help enable young people maximise their independence
Joining the Scheme means you could:
- Develop a new network of friends and support by experiencing and pursuing ordinary / mainstream activities and interests
- Acquire new skills through training, including; Disability Equality Training, Social Model of Disability and guidance on how to run a Forum.
Being part of the Forum means:-

To change Society's perceptions of young disabled people

We can also link you with a trained mentor to work with you to achieve your personal goals.
